• [J-MOT] May 31, 2023 Schumpeter Tamada, Ph.D., the professor of the Institute of Business and Accounting Business School was elected as J-MOT President for the new fiscal year.

• [J-MOT] May 31, 2021 Dr. Masahiro Hashimoto, the dean of the School of Innovation Management, the professor of the Department of Innovation Science, School of Environment and Society, Tokyo Institute of Technology was elected as J-MOT President for the new fiscal year.

• [J-MOT] May 31, 2019 Kazuhiro Fukuyo, Ph.D., the dean of the Graduate School of Innovation and Technology Management, Yamaguchi University was elected as J-MOT President for the new fiscal year.

  This was the first J-MOT Meeting in which Kwansei Gakuin University participated. The FY 2009 Activity Report and Financial Report were approved. Approval was granted to extend for one (1) year the term as President of the J-MOT of Japan of Ken Kaminishi, the dean of the Yamaguchi University Graduate School of Innovation and Technology Management. The "Core Curriculum for MOT-Education" was granted final approval, and an English-language version was created with the aim of communicating such information to outside of Japan.

FY 2009

• [International Workshop] Mar 11, 2010International Workshop regarding MOT Education and Its Curriculum

  This workshop, which involved the participation of university representatives from four countries in the Asia region, was held in order to facilitate the exchange of information and opinions, and to deepen mutual understanding and cooperative relationships.

  Deliberative discussions were held regarding the core curriculum created on the basis of the investigations of the "Core Curriculum Development Work Promotion Committee" launched in October 2008 and of the "MOT Education Core Curriculum Development Committee," the organization established under the auspices of said "Core Curriculum" Committee.

  Towards the creation of a Core Curriculum, a comparative investigation of such things as the educational principles and unique characteristics of each university was conducted, and a wide variety of opinions was heard.

  In response to the adoption of the FY 2008 "Program to Promote the Fostering and Development of Highly Sophisticated Professionals at Professional Graduate Schools, etc." of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, it was decided to engage in the creation of a "Core Curriculum for MOT-Education." This effort would be performed jointly by the 10 MOT professional graduate schools, with Yamaguchi University serving as the representative school.
  To do so, a "MOT Education Core Curriculum Development Work Promotion Committee" was launched, which, in addition to J-MOT members, included as committee members individuals from the private industry sector.

FY 2006

  Like last year, the J-MOT held a MOT symposium for the public this year as well. It also addressed the drafting of the accreditation criteria for MOT professional graduate schools as part of the educational project that was commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

  The Shibaura Institute of Technology established the first ever MOT professional graduate school in Japan in 2003 and a total of 10 MOT professional graduate schools have been established in the country till date. Every MOT professional graduate school is obliged to obtain accreditation from an external organization in the first five years following its foundation.

  The National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation is presently in the process of framing an accreditation standards proposal that is aimed at professional graduate schools. The J-MOT is concurrently examining how to best adjust the proposal to match MOT professional schools. It will then apply the provisional standards to several model schools on a trial basis in order to test their suitability and will eventually finalize the accreditation standards if they are found to be satisfactory. The standards are expected to outline the common educational objectives and graduation policy for MOT professional schools as well as the requirements expected of the educational system and the capability conditions the schools should fulfill toward achieving the said objectives.

  The first board meeting of the Japan MOT Society was held in NEC's Senkaso on July 21.

  The fifth Conference for the Promotion of Collaboration among Industry, Government, and Academia was held in Kyoto between June 10 (Sat) and June 11 (Sun) in 2006 for the purpose of developing Industry-Government-Academia collaboration and realizing a nation based on scientific and technological creativity. This conference was attended by prominent leaders and people with experience of practical matters in professional fields.

  The MOT graduate schools in Tokyo approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology founded the "Tokyo MOT Six-university Union" for the propagation of domestic MOT education.
